4/4/2011

Hey guys! I've been down here on the Outer Banks of North Carolina fishing with my good buddies on the Canyon Runner doing charters for blue fin tuna. The fishing has been incredibly good. The average-sized fish we've been reeling in is between 200-300 lbs and 70-80 inches. I've included photos of one monster I caught with Captain Dennis, of A-Salt-Weapon, that taped out at 93". That's 7 feet, 8 inches long for those of you that don't want to do the math. Only thing to complain about is the cold, rainy weather… can't wait for it to warm up down here!

Tight lines!

MEXICO FISHING TRIP

Click to view a larger version

As you can tell from the incredible pictures, I recently went to Mexico to do some fishing and freedive spearfishing with a group of buddies from the Northeast. The tuna fishing was slow because of cold green water conditions; warm blue water is the best conditions for tuna. Despite this, we persevered and found some very good bottom fishing for snappers and cabrilla. On the last day of the trip, my good friend Andy Wurst and I were able to do some spearfishing and really got into some of the best spearfishing I’ve ever seen! We speared large cubera snappers and roosterfish. We capped the trip off with a journey to a remote fishing camp which was a real bonus! Next up I’ll be heading to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in search of bluefin tuna with spinning gear! Would love to hear what fishing successes you guys are having this month, so share them in the forum!

Deep Sea Fishing Update from Dupree!
11/30/2010
"Wow, what a fall it has turned out to be! In addition to the normal fall run (Striped Bass, Bluefish and False Albacore), Bluefin Tuna have showed up in full force in the waters off the New Jersey coast! This fall, my friends and I have been cashing in on this incredible fishery! The best part of it all, is that these huge fish are being caught right out front of the beaches - within sight of land! Hopefully this action continues through December."

Well it’s starting to feel more like fall here in New Jersey, so I have started getting all my fishing gear and my boat in running order for the fall blitzes. It’s a good thing I did because the False Albacore aka "Albies" have showed up in full force along our beaches. These little speedsters are one of my favorite fish to catch on light tackle! Hopefully they will stick around for awhile. Also look for hunting reports to start filtering in as Martin is out west elk hunting right now, and we will be hunting in Montana together in October. We’ve got many more things planned for the fall, and we’ll be sure to keep all of you updated with stories and pictures from our adventures. Make sure you head over to the brand-new forum and share your fall hunting and fishing tips with
your fellow fans.

Tight lines!
